Repose

My god and I would travel miles
To worship at your feet
To rest my starving, trembling hand
On your leg – you feel the secret tongue of my hand,
Dissolving in these eyes of heat??

The animal that ends my arm
The beast you do not see but feel
Your real, singing thigh can calm
For in your heart I’ve found my meet.

I travel will in any year
In any day or hour
I travel will to any land
To give you this white flower.

And even if the wait is bland
Our ride for but an hour
I’ll sit down by your blessed side
And rest my starving, trembling hand.
